Accordion Shutter Maintenance

1. Hose out the tracks, top and bottom, to eliminate insects, spiders and tree frogs that may have taken up residence inside them.
2. Wash the entire shutter with a solution of mild dish soap and water and a sponge or soft cloth being sure to clean the length of the joint between the shutter blades
3. Allow to dry
4. Spray the full length of the joint between the shutter blades and inside the upper and lower tracks with LC Wax (available at Home Depot).
5. Then wipe the shutter down to remove excess. Also spray inside the channels for the locking pins and be sure they move freely.
6. Open and close shutter 3 or 4 times to be sure the wax has penetrated between the blades.
7. Spray wax into the keyhole in the lock and around the edges of the lock mechanism. Lock and unlock it 3 or 4 times to be sure it is working properly
8. Your shutters are now ready for the season
